Services to Come

While we are in the early stages of development, we want to share with what will come in our future!

Our services

Animal Therapy

Animal therapy is a great tool for people seeking support and comfort while reducing stress. The love that goes into taking care of animals works as a great foil for those wanting to improve the way they take care of themselves thusly promoting mental health. Our program offers opportunities, to feed, brush, walk, wash, cuddle, and watch our animals.

Trails

Immersed in the natural habitats of Central Illinois, our land is comprised of ponds, rivers, forests and fields all full of the area’s natural plants and wildlife. Our trails exist as a safe and relaxing step into nature where the air is fresh and the sights are beautiful.

Cabins

Want to stay overnight? Our goal is to offer on site cabins where those seeking prolonged health can drop in for extended periods of time. Our cabins will also be destination sites with access to trails, bodies of water, fun outdoor activities, and all the charm the local small towns and businesses have to offer.

Horticulture

Our business offers access to plants and gardening through our partnership with the local nursery where farm to plate life is possible. Those staying with us will all be encouraged to grow and cultivate in our raised garden beds where the food grown can be eaten. In a similar way to animal therapy, horticulture improves cognitive processors and overall health.

FAQs

Can I bring friends and family? Are sessions private?

Yes, we encourage all to bring their friends and family. Such activities can be beneficial for all, even for those who are not the focus of each session.

Our land and space are very open, and we plan on lots of people moving in and out of each area, but if you feel more comfortable with a private session then that can always be arranged. Private sessions will just have to be scheduled and communicated with us.

Do I need animal experience to participate?

Animal experience is not required for those seeking to try something new. We have people on hand and even plan to have volunteers around who can help. There will always be people with experience ready to help, and we want to ensure that people associated with 5K are around when customers are surrounded by our animals.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No, a doctor’s referral is not required for those wanting to participate in our activities.

Who can benefit from animal and horticulture therapy?

Anyone can benefit from our animal and horticulture therapy. Those with depression, anxiety, or other sorts of disabilities who often feel unwelcome or overstimulated in life should know that 5K offers reprieve and stability often lacking in day to day activities.

What does participation consist of?

Participation consists of a multitude of things, and you are the one in charge of your healing process. You can choose between animal care where you can brush, feed, walk, and watch our animals. Plant care where you can grow, pick, water, and eat what you sow. Finally, we have options for hiking, fishing, and other peaceful outdoor activities.

Do you offer scholarships for care?

The plan in our future is to get to the point where we can offer to cover as many people as we can. The purpose of this business is to unburden those coming to us, so through the help of donations we plan to offer scholarships.

What happens during bad weather?

In the future we will have the indoor arena for our animals, and those scheduled for gardening activities will have access to our greenhouses so no scheduled appointments will be missed. If a severe situation causes us to cancel an appointment, we will work with you to reschedule.

What animals are at the farm?

We have a variety of animals on the farm such as: miniature highland cows, miniature donkeys, a miniature pony, goats, kune kune pigs, a Flemish rabbit, chickens, ducks, turkeys, peafowls, and two Kangal livestock dogs.
